1. HERE by Alessia Cara
Singer songwriter, Alessia Cara started out early by doing covers and impersonations of her most loved artists on YouTube. Discovered by ….she was quickly able to express her creative style by crafting lyrics that are well written and pack a punch of emotions. They relate to the things millennials thinks about and what’s better? She writes and sings things that we are all thinking. “ I ask myself what am I doing here”” How many time have you heard this, whether at a party you know you shouldn’t be in like the singer suggest or anywhere that deep down you know you shouldn’t have been in? It’s all relative and this song will have you coming up with your own creative version of what it means to you.
"Excuse me if I seem a little unimpressed with this
An anti-social pessimist but usually I don't mess with this
And I know you mean only the best and
Your intentions aren't to bother me
But honestly I'd rather be
Somewhere with my people we can kick it and just listen
To some music with the message (like we usually do)
And we'll discuss our big dreams
How we plan to take over the planet
So pardon my manners, I hope you'll understand it
That I'll be here
Not there in the kitchen with the girl
Who's always gossiping about her friends
So tell them I'll be here
Right next to the boy who's throwing up 'cause
He can't take what's in his cup no more
Oh God why am I here?"
2. OUTLAWS by Alessia Cara
The millennial Bonnie & Clyde, the new Beyonce and Jay-z; Alessia delivers another thought provoking song. While listening to this song, you can feel as though you are running from a crime you just committed with your loved one. It’ll have you conjuring up the thought of a possible court appearance or looking behind a glass as your loved one does time for something you both did! It’s amazing…really, it is! And play it in the background of your studio, and watch your creations come to fruition with ease.
"Run, run like the devil's behinds us
Run to where no one can find us
Be my accomplice to my crime
Run, run cause we're guilty as sin
Run 'cause we know we won't win
We know together we kill time"
3. WHEN WE WERE YOUNG by Adele
Sure, Hello is her major hit from this album but her follow-up single is just as great; just as inspiring. The lyrics in this song are poetic, and I could totally envision the photograph she speaks of. The highs and lows of this song are beautiful and of course, Adele’s powerhouse voice does it justice.
"Let me photograph you in this light
In case it is the last time
That we might be exactly like we were
Before we realized
We were sad of getting old
It made us restless
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song"

"Waste time with a masterpiece, don't waste time with a masterpiece (huh!)
You should be rolling with me, you should be rolling with me (ah)
You're a real life fantasy, you're a real life fantasy (huh!)

6. BEAUTIFUL LIFE by Nick
American idol winner, Nick.. sings a song that inspires all of us to look back at our lives and think of all the things we currently have instead of thinking of things we don’t have.
"This could be the last night of our lives
Gonna chase down our every desire
We blaze the night
With all we've been waiting for
All this time
Reaches such great heights

"Oh, what a beautiful life"
7. FORMATION by Beyonce
I know you ALL got hot sauce in your bag! Or your life is spicy..either way you're not afraid to take risks so you enjoy songs that have interesting lyrics like these.
"Y'all haters corny with that Illuminati mess
Paparazzi, catch my fly, and my cocky fresh
I'm so reckless when I rock my Givenchy dress (stylin')
I'm so possessive so I rock his Roc necklaces
My daddy Alabama, Momma Louisiana
You mix that negro with that Creole make a Texas bama
I like my baby heir with baby hair and afros
I like my negro nose with Jackson Five nostrils
Earned all this money but they never take the country out me
I got a hot sauce in my bag, swag"
WORK by Rihanna
"Work, work, work, work, work..!" That's what we do, right? We work hard towards our goals, to further our careers, to raise our families, etc so even if you don't understand what she says..know that it's all about well, WORK!
"You need to get done, done, done, done at work, come over
We just need to slow the motion
Don't give that away to no one
Long distance, I need you
When I see potential I just gotta see it through
If you had a twin, I would still choose you
I don't wanna rush into it, if it's too soon
But I know you need to get done, done, done, done
If you come over"
